Yeah, I know that Baptist is technically not Protestant. But work with them ...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – He has preached the gospel to more than 200 million people in 185 lands and, at 91, still maintains that his one purpose in life is "to help people find a personal relationship with God, which, I believe, comes through knowing Christ."

Billy Graham, whose crusade in Los Angeles in 1949 vaulted him into the public square, is far and away the top living preacher that has most influenced Protestant pastors, according to a recent survey by LifeWay Research.

In telephone interviews conducted in November 2009, Protestant pastors were asked to "name the top three living Christian preachers that most influence you." Twenty-one percent of pastors surveyed said Graham – that’s nearly three times the number who named Charles R. Swindoll, prominent pastor, author and host of the radio Bible-teaching ministry Insight for Living.

Pretty good read, but it all depends on your own personal definition of 'influential'.

I'd take a good old Baptist preacher like Joe Arthur or Chris Haizlip over at least half of the names on that list any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

I've always been a big fan of John Piper. His books have been very influential for me.

Speaking of good ole' baptist preachers.1994 should know this one. I've sat under Johnny hunt's preaching for the past 23 years. he's one of the most influential people in my life. Great testimony and a heart for missions. the church grew from 200 to over 14,000 since i've been attending there. for those of you who don't know he's the pastor at FBC woodstock, GA. also is now the prez of the SBC. and a noted GW alum.

... and longtime LU board member.

Winthrop Alum also is at his church but he doesn't post on our board as much these days.

I was a little surprised by the results. I expected more of a denominational & demographical diversity.

One of the best messages I ever heard was when johnny Hunt spoke at TRBC (I think that was Dr Falwell's funeral...I think he also spoke at baccalaureate that weekend prior)
